Programs
TSMS offers children from early childhood to adolescence (3 to 16 years old) a challenging and enriched Montessori curriculum in a warm and nurturing environment. The Montessori approach allows children to experience the joy of learning at an early age and provides an environment in which intellectual, moral, creative, physical and social growth flourish. Our goal at TSMS is to allow the children to experience the freedom to explore and develop a true love of learning which they will keep with them long after leaving the school.
CHILDREN'S HOUSE (PRESCHOOL)
The Montessori preschool classroom is made up of children of mixed ages. Three-, four-, and five-year-olds all share the same classroom, and each child usually has the same teacher for 3 years. In the multi-age setting, with the guidance of trained teachers, the children learn from each other, and they learn because of each other. Younger children get a chance to look ahead and see what is coming next by watching the older children. Older children have the opportunity to reinforce their knowledge by sharing it with the younger children.
The preschool program is a total life experience for children whose ages range from three to six. The curriculum is interdisciplinary and integrative and addresses the developmental needs of the absorbent child.
Learning takes place in a prepared environment where children explore and work with materials in the five content areas: Practical life, Sensorial, Language, Mathematics, Language extensions (geography, history, science, art, music, and movement).
As the children "work", they become, they develop confidence, independence, coordination, concentration, order and good work habits - tools that prepare them for life.
ELEMENTARY
The elementary program builds on the activities which began in the preschool. It responds to the needs of the six to twelve-year old children.
The curriculum provides an integrated view of work and is directed towards activities that spark the children's imagination and creativity. It integrates learning activities that develop their reasoning and intellectual abilities.
Elementary work prepares the children to be responsible and joyful learners. It provides them opportunities to hone their skills and develop their inherent human potentials.
HIGH SCHOOL
The program of study and work in High School is designed to prepare students for adulthood. It addresses normal educational concerns and provides them with more activities that involve service and real work.
Being a preparation for higher education, the curriculum requires increasing specialization in the sciences, mathematics and language arts.
The high school provides an environment: that affirms the adolescent; that awakens his vocation; that develops his sense of responsibility and maturity - helping him to become a total human being.
